Production Notes
The first day of filming took place on August 10 at Intermedia studios in Sarasota, and comprised green screen photography Dylan and Jaszy inside the base control center. Once the airlock set was ready, principal photography continued August 26 at SMR aggregates in Lakewood Ranch. All exterior shots of Mike and his suit were filmed during one 12 hour day.
Although McKinley edited a watchable rough-cut that very weekend, it took over a year to export, key, motion track, animate and composite the special effects which play a role in practically every shot of the film. Overcoming technical difficulties with the film’s recording format, and photography challenges faced on the day, Zach Reynolds worked tirelessly to single-handedly deliver 45 visual effects shots for the film. There are a total of 60 VFX shots in the seven minute film (compared to 360 in the original Star Wars.)
